Christmas Gift Idea: Marmite Merchandise – Love it or Hate it

First produced at Burton on Trent, Staffordshire, in 1902 Marmite is a dark food spread extracted from the yeasty dregs left over after beer making. Produced by Unilever, recent marketing campaigns have concentrated on the fact that people either love it or hate it. With limited edition Marmite food spreads along with a range of non-food merchandise, Marmite products make ideal Christmas gifts or Christmas stocking fillers.

Marmite’s Very Peculiar Milk Chocolate Bar Launched

All chocoholics will be intrigued by the latest creation to come out of the yeast extract kitchen just in time for Christmas– the Very Peculiar Milk Chocolate bar. Available at a cost of about £3 from most major department stores from October 4th, it contains a hint of marmite and is described in the Grocer magazine as a “treat that bewilders the taste buds.”

Limited edition spreads have included Marston’s Marmite, sold in a red cricket ball coloured jar made using Marston’s Pedigree beer yeast which was created to celebrate the England/Australia Ashes cricket series in 2009. Whilst the initial 500,000 limited edition run is over, the manufacturer’s website was, in October 2010, promising more stocks in soon. If they do come back in stock, this will make an ideal gift for a marmite loving cricketer.

Yeast Extract Kitchenware Christmas Present Ideas

Also available as a Christmas present for the chef of the house is the Marmite cheese dome. With its cheese knife and wooden chopping board in the shape of a Marmite pot topped by a glass dome accompanied by a pot of the black stuff as well, its shape and style will add an interesting feature to the humblest of kitchens.

Other Marmite kitchen items ideal for Christmas include coasters, tea towels, fridge magnets, mugs in both traditional and iconic jar shapes, a branded toast rack and a special edition toaster created in partnership with award winning kitchen appliance manufacturer Dualit. There’s even a little stamp to press on to freshly made toast in the shape of a jar with the words “spread love” embossed on it.

Marmite Branded Clothing Ideal as Christmas Gifts

The company also offers a range of branded t-shirts and fitness gear at reasonable prices. Items include branded love and hate t-shirts, cycling and running vests and short sleeved road jerseys that are ideal for cycling as they are made from a breathable fabric. Also available are water resistant and windproof long sleeved training jackets.

With a variety of other branded items such as notebooks, retro-styled postcards and 1930s styled prints as well as books offering tips and recipe ideas, Marmite merchandise, including the Very Peculiar chocolate and Maggie Hall’s Mish-Mash Dictionary of Marmite make unusual, witty and interesting Christmas gifts or stocking fillers that are reasonably priced and which will be loved rather than hated.

Merry Christmas To You All! Hope This Christmas And New Year Brings A Lot of Good Memories To You 🙂
